Over 25 years   handling litigation matters representing both plaintiffs and defendants  in  federal and state court as well as in arbitration.  Litigation & trial services  include  disputes over: insurance, torts, labor & employment land and commercial leases,  franchising, sales and distribution, collections, civil and general business litigation.

Litigation experience includes:

  • Successfully obtained a seven figure  judgment on behalf of a financial institution against a former member of the board suspected of embezzlement.
  • Vacated judgment in U.S. District Court against foreign corporation based on jurisdictional issues in a breach of contract/collections matter.
  • Obtained removal to federal court and subsequent dismissal of several ERISA claims for a New York based insurance company.
  • Successfully obtained dismissal of injunction and suit in federal court  against foreign corporation in a franchise agreement claim.
  • Provided legal counsel to high net-worth family and related closed corporations regarding disposition of multimillion dollar assets in U.S.
  • Provided legal counsel to foreign family and their closed corporations regarding exequatur proceedings in million dollar judgment.
  • Provided counseling and legal representation to foreign corporation in a breach of contract claim with successful outcome.
  • Counseled and represented talent (artist) management company in negotiation and termination of contracts; and other issues relating to entertainment law.
  • Provided legal representation to San Juan based  Hotel in filing of injunctions,  breach of lease agreements and operating agreements.
  • Represented clients in   loan defaults and loan restructurings.
  • Prepared pleadings attended depositions and provided support  in mass tort case-  the  Dupont Fire Litigation.
  • Represented  hospitals in numerous tort cases.
  • Represented hospital in a wide range of legal issues  cases including commercial condominium law and breach of contracts.
  • Obtained the dismissal of numerous age discrimination cases in federal and state courts for banks, hospitals and retail operations.
  • Obtained dismissal of ADA and COBRA claims against supermarket chain.
  • Obtained relief of judgment in federal court against president of a foreign corporation and its president.
  • Obtained dismissal of a wrongful discharge and discrimination claim for board of directors of a non-profit religious organization.
  • Counseled and provided legal defense to a Fortune 500 company on a Labor Department investigation dealing with wage and hour issues.
  • Provided legal advice and logistical support to employer in discharging employee suspected of embezzling company funds. Coordinated with management, outside accountant and local enforcement authorities the filing of criminal charges.
  • Successfully defended fast-food chain in  multiple sexual discrimination claims.
  • Coordinated with management and federal agents in handling casino employee’s later charged with fraud.
  • Represented manufacturing company in a U.S. Justice Department investigation for immigration-related practices.
  • Represented board members of a leading Church in a wrongful discharge suit.
  • Successfully defended retailer in a 30 store-wide investigation by the Department of Labor.
  • Successfully defended publishing and distribution company in an age discrimination suit.
  • Successfully defended international bank in discharge/harassment suit.
  • Obtained several six figure judgment/settlements for tort injury clients.
  • Saved client  $100,000 in a successful settlement negotiation.
